3-MOVE CHECKER TOURNAMENT

Tulsa, Oklahoma   |  August 31 – September 3

Dear Checker Player:

This will be a four-day event. Majors and Minors will play 10 rounds (20 games).  Two rounds will be played on Monday, August 31, 3 rounds Tuesday, September 1 and Wednesday, September 2 and two rounds, Thursday, September 3. Masters will play 12 rounds (24 games).  Three rounds Monday through Thursday.  The awards ceremonies will be after the final round.  The entry fee is Minors $20, Majors $30, Masters $50. Current ACF membership will be required.

The site of the tournament will be the Courtyard Tulsa Central, 3340 S.79th. E. Ave., Tulsa 74145.  The phone number is (918) 660-0646.  When making reservations be sure to indicate that you are with ACF and playing in the tournament.  You may call the hotel or contact us and we will e-mail you a reservation link.  It is important that you do this as early as possible. The rate is $89 per night.  You may register for the tournament on Sunday evening or the next morning before the first round.  Play will begin each day at 8:30 a. m.  There will be a short meeting on Monday before the first round.

The hotel will provide a complimentary playing room, free hot breakfast, internet access, and free parking. The hotel also serves dinner. Google Tulsa Courtyard Center for more details. The hotel is about ten minutes from Tulsa International Airport and about ten minutes from downtown.  Interstate 44 is three blocks from the hotel.  Several restaurants are within walking distance including Cracker Barrel, Ruby Tuesday and IHop.

The honoree for the 2020 tournament will be Alex Moiseyev.

There are several interesting things to see in the Tulsa Area.  The Gathering Place is a nationally recognized park a few minutes away, the J. M. Davis Gun Collection is in Claremore about 25 minutes from Tulsa, Woolaroc Museum is 50 minutes away; the Dalton Defenders museum is in Coffeyville, Kansas, about 75 minutes from Tulsa. The Gilcrease museum and Jenks aquarium are nearby.

There will be at least $31,000 in prize money... the largest fund ever for any national tournament!  This money will be divided among the top players in three categories: The approximate amount will be: Masters $20,000, Majors $7,000 and Minors $4,000. The major sponsors of this event are David Seres of Newport Beach, Calif., Dr. Ken Seres of Edmond, Okla. and Jeannie and Joe McDaniel of Tulsa, Okla.
